2023: APC Loses 2 Senators, 2 House Of Reps, 3 House of Assembly To PDP

The ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, has been hit by mass defection, as it lost 2 senators, 2 House of Representatives and 3 House of Assembly members to opposition PDP.

Newsonline reports that the ruling party, All Progressive Congress, recorded the shaking loss of its part stakeholders in Kebbi States days after its presidential primary election.

 

The defectors Newsonline gathered defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, citing injustice during the ruling parties presidential primary election.

 

 

The mass defection is coming days after Northern APC governors paid a congratulatory visit to Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate.

 

Senator Adamu Aliero, representing Kebbi Central Senatorial District, Senate leader, Dr. Yahaya Abdullahi, representing Kebbi North Senatorial District, were the two senators that pinched their tents with the opposition PDP, with their followers.

 

Member representing Aliero/Jega/Gwandu Federal Constituency, in the of House of Representatives, Mohammed Umar Jega also announced his defection from APC to PDP.

 

Abdullahi Zumbo, member representing Dandi/Arewa Federal Constituency followed suit by dumping the party for PDP.

 

Newsonline reports that members of the state assembly, Habibu Labbo, Gwandu constituency, Ismaila Bui,  Arewa constituency, and Mohammed Buhari Aliero, Aliero constituency also abandoned APC for PDP.

 

The Organizing Secretary of PDP in the state, Usaini Raha, confirmed the defection of the lawmakers to PDP.

 

On the rumoured defection of a former governor of the state, Sa’idu Usman Dakingari, to PDP, Raha said a letter to that effect was yet to reach his party’s secretariat.
