President Buhari Suffers Personal Loss As Ex-Chief Security Officer Dies

Ladi Williams' Death Unfortunate - Buhari Mourns

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the death of his former Chief Security Officer (CSO), Alhaji Ahmadu Gaada as a personal loss.

Buhari made the submission in a condolence message on Wednesday to the family of the deceased in which he prayed God to give them strength to bear the loss.

The President in the condolence message signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said Gaada served him with “excellence and astuteness.”

He added that the late CSO is someone that places national interests above personal interests always.

Naija News reports Gaada served as Buhari’s Chief Security Officer as Military Head of State in the 1980s.

“He worked in the national interest rather than self-interest. He will be remembered as an exemplary security officer and most of all, a patriotic citizen who placed the nation above self. Ahmadu’s death is a personal and irreplaceable loss to me. May Allah rest his soul in peace and give enough strength to the bereaved family members,” said the President about his former CSO’s death.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has scrapped the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and replaced it with the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NURC).

Naija News reports that the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, made this known on Wednesday during the confirmation of the appointment of board members of NURC.

Lawan stated that the new agency has automatically replaced DPR, and would take over its responsibilities in the petroleum industry.

The confirmation of the nominees followed the consideration of a report by the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) led by its chairman, Senator Albert Akpan.
