How PDP Reacted To Buhari’s Sack Of Two Ministers

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted with cynicism to President Muhammadu Buhari’s sack of two ministers in the Federal Executive Council.

According to the opposition party, the sudden removal of the ministers will not atone for the alleged failure of the administration.

It also said their dismissal was not the best way to go, if the Presidency cannot explain to Nigerians the reasons behind their abrupt sack.

The party further said that nothing was more scandalous than the fact that while President Buhari has promised to continue to rejig his cabinet until only the best hands are brought on deck, the perceived impunity and divisive in the administration will not allow them to flourish.

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, stated this in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday.

Naija News reports that stakeholders in Nigeria’s democracy, including the PDP, are yet to be clear about the real reasons behind President Buhari’s sack of the Ministers of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Nanono; and his Power counterpart, Saleh Mamman.

But, Ologbondiyan said that if Buhari fails to explain to Nigerians why he had to fire the two ministers, the PDP will take up the challenge to investigate and uncover the motivation for the president’s action.

He added, “The manifest inefficiency of the Buhari administration is a product of President Buhari’s myopic and divisive approach to governance as well as the impunity and corruption deeply embedded in his administration and party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“The PDP posits that even if the best hands are recruited, they will be contaminated by incompetence, impunity, disregard to rules, divisiveness and corruption that have become the hallmark of the APC and its administration.

“The party calls on President Buhari and the APC to note that Nigerians are not swayed by the sack of the Ministers but are eagerly awaiting the exit of the Buhari’s Presidency and the APC come May 29, 2023, as there is no hope in sight under their purview.”
