A former NFL cornerback, Jason Sehorn has had an interesting road to the NFL. While his love for the game has been well documented over the years, it is a lesser-known fact that Jason Sehorn was once selected to play baseball and was even put into the Chicago Cubs system. As it happened, a scout drove by and saw Seahorn play. He was fast between the bases, was big, and more importantly, he was fast. So, Seahorn ended up spending a summer in West Virginia, playing for the Cubs’ rookie-league affiliate near the banks of the Ohio River in Huntington. But baseball was never the sport for Sehorn. When the summer ended, so did Sehorn’s career as an amateur baseball player and he moved on to the NFL.
Jason Heath Sehorn was born on the 15th of April, 1971 in Sacramento, California, United States. Jason comes from a humble background. His father Mike Sehorn worked as a truck driver and his mother Nancy Hughes owned a beauty salon in Saacremato. Jason was only two years old when his parents divorced and Nancy took on herself to raise him. Although Jason saw his father at varying intervals it changed during his junior high school years when he decided not to see him altogether. Jason grew up alongside his younger half-sibling Colby Alexander whom Nancy had from less than a year marriage to Mack Alexander.
Talking about his education, Jason attended a private Christian school outside of Sacramento. Then he enrolled at Mount Shasta High School in where he played a year of high school football. He then moved to Shasta College and played two seasons of college football. During his time at Shasta College, Jason excelled as a wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner. He then moved to the University of Southern California and was moved around the team to safety due to an abundance of talent at wide receiver.
Having played his final two years at USC, Jason entered the 1994 NFL Draft and was drafted by the New York Giants. Talking about the moment he first found out, Jason revealed,
“It was just a very awesome experience. To be that 21-year-old kid sitting in your living room and having these head coaches of NFL teams and the GM telling you ‘we just drafted you, you’re going to be on a plane headed out to New York. I was like, ‘this is awesome.’”
Jason spent most of his career playing for the Giants as a cornerback. Following his impressive back-to-back successful seasons in 1996–97, Jason suffered from a nagging knee injury. He ended up tearing his anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments during the opening kickoff in a 1998 preseason game against the New York Jets. While Sehorn recovered and made a comeback the next season, his speed took a massive toll. Sehorn also made his appearance on the big stage as the Giants played in Super Bowl XXXV.
After being released by the Giants on March 7, 2003, Sehorn signed with the St. Louis Rams as a safety. But an injury ridden season prevented Jason from enjoying the season. Jason retired after being released by the Rams after he failed a fitness test for the 2004 season. As of now, Sehorn serves as the Director of Communications at the Hendrick Automotive Group in Charlotte. He also joined Fox Sports Net in 2005 as an analyst.
Former American professional football player Jason Sehorn has a net worth of $20 million.
Jason Sehorn was first married to former CNN correspondent Whitney Case. However, the pair called things off after a few years and Sehorn tied the knot to actress Angie Harmon. He proposed to Harmon live on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The pair tied the knot on June 9, 2001, and went on to have three children, Finley, born on October 14, 2003, Avery, born on June 22, 2005, and Emery, born December 18, 2008. Despite their time together, the pair decided to call things off in November of 2014. The divorce was finalized in 2016 which put an end to Sehorn’s 13 years of marriage to Harmon.
Jason married Meghann Gunderman in 2017. Meghann is an American entrepreneur and activist who founded and serves as Executive Director of The Foundation For Tomorrow. In three years as a married couple, the pair has a baby girl Sage Cru Sehorn whom they welcomed in 2020.
