Joanne Tucker was born on the 26th of June, 1982, in Bermuda but was raised in Brooklyn, United States. Raised in New York and Connecticut., Tucker spent most of her early life in the city but would travel to Bermuda with her family during the summers. She loved the place so much that she even got married in Bermuda. When Tucker was four years of age, her parents Henry Tucker and Cynthia May divorced, and she left the island with her mother. She attended the Elite High School in Dalton and developed an early interest in acting.
When Tucker was 14-years of age, she was touring the production set of the movie, Nutcracker, but fell ill. She was rushed to the hospital and was admitted to intensive care. This gave Tucker the needed push to pursue acting, and as the star put it,
“I had a ‘come to Jesus’ moment. I remember after that thinking I will pursue this acting thing because life is fragile.”
Following her time in high school, Tucker studied theatre major at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. She later studied acting at Juilliard.
While Tucker hasn’t had a large career as an actor, she has enjoyed a diverse one. Her debut appearance came in 2010 when she was cast as Sara, in the movie, After you left. She was next seen in a couple of short films, Party Trick (2010) and Loft (2011), before she played the part of Valerie in the 2012 movie, Gayby. She was also seen in the short movie I’m Coming Over and the documentary, Teenage. 2013 saw Tucker in Jack Heart Jump and Babes, after which she landed a leading role in the movie, Listen Up Philip. She was also seen in the 2016 Documentary, Zero Days, before making a one-off appearance in one of the episodes of the TV series, Billions. 2016 saw her appear as Ruthi in the popular TV series, Girls, after which she was seen in the 2019 movie, The Report, and more recently on, Give or Take (2020).
Joanne Tucker is happily married to Adam Driver and the pair have been together for nearly two decades. The pair first met at Juilliard where both Driver and Tucker were studying acting. Given the pair’s love for secrecy, not much is known about their early life and how long they dated before tying the knot. The marriage was held on the 22nd of June, 2013, in Bermuda.
The pair have a three-year-old son who has been never exposed to the media and was kept secret for quite a while. The family currently lives in Brooklyn Heights.
