FG bows to ASUU demands and removes union from IPPIS which had been the source of the long standing rift between the FG and the union

Recall that the union had been on strike over unpaid allowances and for disagreements resulting from the FG payment system

But in the latest meeting held between the federal government of Nigeria and the academic union of universities, a lot of progress was made

The Buhar-led government have now removed the union from the integrated payroll and personnel information system, IPPIS

The FG also agreed to pay the outstanding arrears in allowances from February of 2021

This is confirmed by the Minister of Labour and Employment, who read out the communique at the end of a seven-hour negotiation with ASUU members in Abuja, today

He said the government also agreed to ASUU’s demand to pay their members’ salary arrears from February to June through the old salary payment platform, Government Integrated Financial and Management Information System.
