Operation Accord Troops Apprehend, Recover Arms and Ammunition from Gunrunners in Sokoto

Troops of operation Accord on Sunday, apprehended two suspects for alleged gun running activities in Sokoto state.

The suspects according to a statement by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, General John Enenche, are Abubakar Mohammed from Bodinga Local Government Area and Ansi Usman Janare from Gohono village of Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Genral Enenche said one Light Machine Gun, 4 AK47 rifle magazines, 586 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 100 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and one motorcycle, were recovered from the suspects.

The statement explained further that the troops while acting on intelligence report, also neutralised bandits attack in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing two of the bandits, recovering one motorcycle, 4 magazines and 2 cell phones.

The statement read in part, “In another development on 8 November 2020, following credible intelligence that bandits were operating at Fegi Baza village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, troops swiftly mobilized to the area and made contact with armed bandits. After exchange of fire, the gallant troops overwhelmed the bandits thereby neutralizing 2 of them. Items recovered include one motorcycle, 4 magazines and 2 cell phones.”

In a related development, the troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI DAJI, arrested one Jamilu Usman, in Dan-Ali village of Katsina State, who is believed to be a collaborator of armed bandits tormenting the area.

While commending the troops for their resilience, Enenche urged the troops to remain resolute in the fight against criminal elements in the country.
