The Spanish club Atletico Madrid has secured the services of former Arsenal target, Geoffrey Kondogbia, from La Liga rivals Valencia CF. Kondogbia, a robust midfielder with a good dribbling skill, is a direct replacement for Thomas Partey who was snatched up on transfer deadline day by Arsenal Football Club. The Central African Republic (CAR) international was on the list of potential targets for Arsene Wenger right from his teenage in 2013 through 2015.
UEFA had granted Atletico Madrid the permission to replace Thomas Partey as they had no time to replace him on the deadline day.
A hard tackler, Kondogbia does not shy away from taking long range shots and has a dribbling success rate of about 84% in the La Liga this season already. A good box-to-box player.
Kondogbia played for France’s youth national teams, winning the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2013, before pledging his senior career to CAR. He started his professional club career with Lens, and has played for a handful of clubs, including Sevilla, Monaco, Inter Milan, and Valencia.
Atletico Madrid announced yesterday 3rd November 2020 that he has signed a four year contract for an undisclosed fee.
