Police Officers numbering more than seven (7) thousand has been deployed for Akwa Ibom LG Election
DABATVNEWS reports that Akwa-Ibom Police Command has okayed the deployment of seven thousand one hundred and ninety-four (7,194) personnel for the local government elections, scheduled for Oct. 31 in the state.
Akwa-Ibom Police Command further ordered the restriction of movement in the state from 7 am. to 2 pm. on the election day.
This statement was made public by SP Odiko Macdon, spokesman of the command in Uyo on Friday.
According to the police spokesperson, “the personnel would be deployed in all the polling units and wards in the 31 council areas of the state”.
Macdon quoted the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Andrew Amiengheme, as assuring the people of the state of adequate security before, during and after the exercise.
Amiengheme warned hoodlums and ballot box snatchers against any form of lawlessness, saying that anybody caught would be dealt with.
He also warned the residents of the state against violating the restriction of movement order.
