A former Works Director at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Hassan Jama’are, was on Sunday night murdered by unknown gunmen.
Naija News understands that Jama’are was attacked and murdered at around 10 pm as he drove into his residence in the Tudun Salmanu area of Bauchi.
Confirming the assassination to the Punch, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, said the gunmen had trailed him and when he got to his house and was about to open the gate, they attacked him and shot at him at a close range.
“They also seized his Honda Accord car keys and drove it away,” he said.
He added that Jama’are managed to crawl into the house and his family raised an alarm which attracted neighbours to the scene.
Wakil said the Police was informed and he was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
According to him, Police operatives have been drafted to the area while the attackers are being trailed by the Police in order to apprehend them.
