#OndoDecides2020: Gunshots Reported At Polling Unit

Mobile police operatives have been deployed to Pollíng Unit 11, Edo Lodge in Oke Ijebu, Akure, the Ondo State capital following reports of sporadic gun shooting at the unit.

The development was confirmed by Tee-Lee Ikoro, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command.

The people of Ondo State are voting today, 10th October to determine who will be their governor for the next four years.

LGAs – 18

Electoral wards – 203

Polling units – 3,009

Voter population – 1,822,346

Collected PVCs – 1,478,460

Uncollected PCVs – 343,886

Political parties participating – 17

Meanwhile, the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on Friday evening met with the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu over the ongoing protests against police brutality.

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo was also present at the meeting held at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

At the meeting, the President declared the determination of his administration to reform the police but appealed to Nigerians to be calm and peaceful.

Buhari also noted that he has given firm instructions to the IGP to address the concerns of Nigerians regarding the excesses of the Nigeria Police Force.

He urged Nigerians to support the police in the discharge of their constitutional duties which is the protection of the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians.
