Kepa Arrizabalaga was at fault for another goal Chelsea conceded, and the Blues have been told they MUST sell the goalkeeper to have any chance of finishing in the top four.
The Spain international, who last season recorded the worst save percentage in the entire Premier League, began his 2020/21 campaign as he ended the last one – poorly.
While Chelsea secured a 3-1 win at Brighton to open their new league campaign with three points, there was a negative as Kepa conceded from long range as the Seagulls equalised after Jorginho’s opening penalty.
Leandro Trossard fired past the glovesman from outside the penalty area, but, while the goal looked impressive at first glance, it quickly became clear Kepa was at fault.
Replays showed the ball actually went UNDER Kepa’s outstretched arm, as he dived in slow motion and failed to get to ground fast enough.
The mistake resulted in calls for Chelsea to speed up their pursuit of a new No.1, and a deal for Rennes keeper Edouard Mendy is said to be close with the signing possibly even announced this week.

And Jamie O’Hara, the former Tottenham midfielder, has warned Frank Lampard: ‘If you want to get in the top four, you need to get rid of Kepa!’.
Joining Tuesday’s talkSPORT Breakfast alongside Laura Woods, O’Hara wasted no time in mocking fellow co-host Ally McCoist after he defended the goalkeeper.
As soon as O’Hara got on air, he began: “What are you talking about Ally? ‘Kepa was unlucky’, ‘he could have done better’…
“Get out of it! He’s got no arms!”
Later explaining his criticism, O’Hara added: “I mean, come on… if they want to get in the top four they NEED to sign a new keeper.
“I know they are in for someone – that boy Mendy at Rennes – and Kepa has to go, the boy HAS to go!
“If they want to get in the top four, Chelsea need to get rid of Kepa.
“When you watch [the goal] in real time you think it’s a good finish, but then you watch it back and it’s gone underneath him!
“He’s literally got, as the old saying in football goes, chocolate wrists. It’s ridiculous!
“Every time the ball goes near him it just goes through him, it goes underneath him… it’s almost embarrassing!”
